Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What is a birth doula?
When looking at the overall doula; I am offering physical, emotional and mental support, and empowerment for pregnant women and their birthing partner. I will offer non-judgmental support, guidance, evidence-based education and practical hands-on support during child birth including comfort measures and pain techniques.

Q. Doulas aren't cheap, what do I gain investing in you?
I understand I am an investment, but what I offer really can change your birthing experience. When looking at my fee; you must include the prenatal and postnatal visits, unlimited access to me during your due month, and the attendance of your birth that can vary greatly in length from a few hours to a few days.
Due to the fact that babies are on their own time frame I will be available to you all hours of the day every day from 36 weeks to delivery. In doing this I can be pulled away from family and friends and clear any of my events to ensure I am there for your birth. While I love empowering my birthing mama and their partners, I only take a limited number of clients each month to ensure I will be present. As a doula, I love my job and happily make the sacrifices to be there for you for the days leading up to, during the delivery of your baby and the days following.
The support and peace of mind you get from a doula is an amazing investment. I believe every mama deserves a doula to feel empowered, heard and supported in the most amazing time of their life.

Q: What are the benefits of a doula?
Physical support: Offer position ideas for comfort and labor progression. With hands on comfort measures like comforting touch, counter pressure and breathing techniques.
Emotional Support: Help families feel supported, easing the emotional experience of birth and also helping to create space where the hormones of labor can work their best. Every family can benefit from nurturing and connection at this tender time of their lives no matter their birth plan.
Partner Support: While not replacing your birth partner whether a romantic partner, friend, or other family member. I will support your birth partner in being as involved as they’d like with the birth. Physical and emotional support make a huge difference for everyone involved.
Evidence Based Information and Advocacy: I am trained to help you connect with evidence based resources so that you can ask questions and make informed decisions about your birth. I will be a bridge of communication between you, my client, and your provider as I lift you up and help you find your voices and advocate for the very best care.

  • Pressure the birthing person into certain choices.
  • Will not take over the role of the birthing partner.
  • Do not catch the baby.
